A Royal Ascot fiasco: Duchess of Cambridge catches Sophie, Countess of Wessex as she falls
The first day of Royal Ascot 2017 was an eventful one. The entire royal family turned out for the occasion with the Queen, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge donning their very best outfits.
Although Kate’s lacy white Alexander McQueen dress was almost identical to her 2016 Dolce & Gabbana style, her wardrobe choice wasn’t the talking point of the day.
Instead, she turned good samaritan, helping another royal in need of a hand.
The Duchess was seen catching Sophie, Countess of Wessex, as she lost her balance in the carriage they were both riding in.
Although Kate looked shocked at first, the pair were both spotted laughing and joking shortly after.
Kate caused major déjà vu when she arrived in an extremely similar dress to the one she wore to Royal Ascot last year.
Her Alexander McQueen dress today had a slightly shorter hemline than last year’s style, and has been compared to her famous wedding dress.
The Queen also sported a familiar look. Her Majesty clearly doesn’t care for controversy as she chose a Stewart Parvin coat in the same lime green shade that rocked the nation on her 90th birthday last year.
Kate and William are set to present a trophy at Royal Ascot later today. It’s unclear whether this will be their only appearance at this year’s event.
