Trooping The Colour: The Queen Opts For Lime Green, Kate Looks Angelic In White
Today, the Queen’s official 90th birthday was marked with the traditional ceremonial display: The annual Trooping the Colour parade. The event, which includes over 1,600 soldiers and 300 horses, has been attended by the Queen every year of her reign - except in 1955 when a national rail strike led to the event being cancelled.
It’s a very prestigious occasion and one that the entire royal family attends. So, from Her Majesty herself to the Duchess of Cambridge, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, here’s what everyone wore for the very British event…
You couldn’t miss Her Majesty at the prestigious event. Wearing a bright green hat and coat over a floral dress, the 90-year-old added a pop of colour to the event and made sure all eyes were on her.
The Duchess of Cambridge opted for a white coat dress, injecting a little colour by nestling an oversized pink flower in her chic side chignon.
The 34-year-old wore a Philip Treacy powder pink hat for the occasion and the same Alexander McQueen coat that she wore for Princess Charlotte’s christening.
The Duchess of Cornwall also donned neutral colours, including gloves and a statement pearl choker.
After being slammed on Twitter for her ‘Storm Trooper’ Burberry coat at the St Paul’s Cathedral thanksgiving service yesterday, Princess Beatrice chose a far more stripped-back look for the Trooping the Colour today. She paired a navy blue dress with a tangerine hat.
Princess Eugenie also kept things simple in a moss green long-sleeved dress and a stone coloured hat with purple feathers.
Similar to Kate and Camilla, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, chose to wear pastel hues for the occasion. She donned a pale blue coat dress with a feathered hairpiece. Meanwhile her 12-year-old daughter, Lady Louise, looked lovely in royal blue.
