Duchess of Cambridge is pretty in pink at Trooping the Colour parade
The Duchess of Cambridge was just one of the many royals celebrating the Queen’s 91st birthday at this morning’s Trooping the Colour.
The extravagant parade – which sees over 1000 soldiers take part – will be followed by the royal family gathering on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch RAF planes fly past.
Kate wore a ruched Alexander McQueen dress in a summery pink shade. As always, her hair was in a chic bun in order to let a matching bow-adorned hat by Jane Taylor do the talking.
Her long-sleeved dress appeared to have been customised from a similar sleeveless McQueen style and featured paper bag detailing at the skirt. Kate accessorised with a pair of diamond drop earrings along with a pale pink clutch.
The Duchess will be joined later by her husband, Prince William, and children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, on the Palace balcony.
She also took part in the traditional parade, riding in a horse-drawn carriage with Prince Harry and Prince Charles’ wife, the Duchess of Cornwall.
For those that didn’t know, the Queen is the only person in the world to have two birthdays. Her actual birthday was on April 21. Today marked her official birthday which is celebrated in June due to the hopes of having nicer weather.
“Today is traditionally a day of celebration,” she wrote in a message released by the Palace. “This year, however, it is difficult to escape a very sombre national mood.”
The monarch went on to speak about the recent terror attacks that have hit the UK, saying: “As a nation, we continue to reflect and pray for all those who have been directly affected by these events.”
“During recent visits in Manchester and London, I have been profoundly struck by the immediate inclination of people throughout the country to offer comfort and support to those in desperate need.”
“Put to the test, the United Kingdom has been resolute in the face of adversity. United in our sadness, we are equally determined, without fear or favour, to support all those rebuilding lives so horribly affected by injury and loss.”
