Meghan Markle to launch womenswear line with Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Jigsaw
The Duchess of Sussex is to launch her own line of womenswear this autumn, in support of one of her patronages.
Meghan has partnered with high street chains Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Jigsaw, along with her fashion designer friend Misha Nonoo to create a capsule collection.
The collaboration will benefit Smart Works, the charity which helps unemployed and vulnerable women back into the workplace. Meghan became patron of the nationwide organisation in January and has visited their office in a public and private capacity.
“For each item purchased by a customer, one is donated to charity,” Meghan reveals in the September issue of British Vogue, which she has guest edited.
She adds: “Not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story, it reminds us we are in it together.”
New photos from Meghan’s ‘quiet’ visits to Smart Works’ London office have been released on the @SussexRoyal Instagram account and will feature in the magazine. They show the duchess meeting with clients and helping them to find the perfect interview look.
In four of the pictures, which were taken when Meghan was pregnant with son Archie, she wears the black William Vintage Courrèges trapeze coat she donned to her baby shower in New York, with jeans and her Aquazzura 'Deneuve' Black Suede Bow Pointy Toe Flats.
In the last snap, the duchess wears the Gucci tweed dress seen from the photo released when the announcement about her British Vogue collaboration was made.
The duchess is no stranger to fashion design. The former Suits star created released two collections for Canadian retailer Reitmans in 2015 and 2016, which were based on the wardrobe of her character Rachel Zane.

Fashion was also a key topic on her now-defunct lifestyle website The Tig, where Meghan shared style tips and her inspirations.
The brands she has chosen to collaborate with on the project come as no surprise either.
A Marks & Spencer bell-sleeve jumper she wore on a visit to Brixton before her wedding to Harry in January 2018 was an instant sell-out, as was the bodycon dress she wore to the Festival of Remembrance last November.

She also donned a £29.50 fascinator from the British department store for Prince Harry’s cousin Celia McCorquodale and George Woodhouse’s wedding.
The duchess has also shown her support for another British retailer John Lewis. Her sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge has dressed her children in several pieces from their childrenswear range over the years.
Kate also worked for luxury label Jigsaw as an accessories buyer in 2006 before she married Prince William in 2011. Meghan wore one of their scarves during her Brixton visit.
American-based designer Misha Nonoo has also been widely reported as the person who introduced the former actress and the royal. When the couple made their public debut at the Invictus Games Toronto in 2017, Meghan wore one of Misha’s pieces, the ‘Husband shirt,’ from her fashion line.
Further details about the collection are expected to be unveiled in autumn - we predict a sell-out.
