Diplomatic Duchess of Cambridge dons German designer Markus Lupfer for ballroom party
The Duchess of Cambridge proved her diplomatic skills once again, choosing a sophisticated dress by German designer Markus Lupfer on Thursday night.
Arriving with Prince William to one of Berlin’s oldest ballrooms, the Duchess was met by famous faces from the country’s fashion, art and technology sectors.
Kate’s green dress was printed with images of swallows and featured her signature high neckline. The design is from London-based designer Markus Lupfer’s pre-fall 2017 collection and is not yet available to buy.
“I was over the moon to see the Duchess of Cambridge wearing our dress last night. She looked absolutely beautiful and so elegant,” Lupfer tells Yahoo Style UK. “As a German born designer, based in London, seeing Catherine represent me in Berlin was a very proud moment.”
The Duchess teamed the simple style with a silver belt and nude scalloped sandals by Prada; shoes she has already worn during the royal tour.

A pearl bracelet worn by Diana in 1989 adorned her wrist with glittering earrings and a geometric printed clutch providing the perfect finishing touch.
Earlier that day, the royal couple visited a cancer research centre, made some pretzels and took part in a boat race after which William was captured punching the air in delight at his win.
Today marks the last day of the royal tour which has seen William, Kate, Prince George and Princess Charlotte travel across Poland and Germany.
The day will see the Duke and Duchess head to Hamburg for a tour of the Maritime Museum and a performance by the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra.
They will finish off the tour with a trip to the Airbus headquarters before taking a private plane back to the UK.
