THRILLER: Andy Ibáñez plays Tigers hero in stunning Game 2 rally

Game notes: The Tigers earned another round of playoff baseball after sweeping the Houston Astros 2-0 on the road in the AL wild-card series.

The Tigers lived the highs and lows of a playoff baseball series all in two games and came out on top to advance to the ALDS. Tarik Skubal delivered a Game 1 win that the bullpen held onto late despite the Astros' best effort, and a collective team effort capped off by Andy Ibáñez's three-run double in the top of the eighth inning to seal the 5-2 Game 2 win and the series.

Now, the Tigers face off against a familiar foe and division rival in the Guardians. This is the first time the two teams have met in the playoffs despite more than 2,000 meetings in history (the old playoff format helps with that stat). The Guardians won the season series 7-6, though all of those games took place July 30 or earlier, before the Tigers' late surge. The Tigers outscored the Guardians, 60-50, and lost five games by one run.
