Tennessee Titans practice updates Day 4: Latest news, highlights from NFL training camp
Week 2 of training camp practices for the Tennessee Titans begins Tuesday, giving quarterback Will Levis and other stars like receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley and defenders L'Jarius Sneed and Jeffery Simmons their first chances to practice in pads and add some contact to the proceedings.
Titans practice begins at 8:30 CT, after which coach Brian Callahan and select players will address the media. Updates and videos will begin to trickle through from the practice field in the first 10 minutes of the day, after which there are limitations on what media members can post from the field.
Tuesday's session is the fourth of nine training camp practices the Titans have scheduled before their first preseason game Aug. 10 against the San Francisco 49ers. The Titans will play two additional preseason games against the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints, as well as hold joint practices with the Seahawks, ahead of cut day on Aug. 27 and the start of the regular season on Sept. 8 against the Chicago Bears.
Here are highlights from Tuesday's practice, as well as everything the Titans players and coaches said after Day 4 of training camp.
Tennessee Titans practice updates
Tuesday's availability report
Chidobe Awuzie remained out with the injury suffered last week. Jamal Adams did not practice Tuesday, with Brian Callahan confirming it was for "management" purposes similar to L'Jarius Sneed, who also did not practice.
Lloyd Cushenberry: 'You expect chippiness'
Titans center Lloyd Cushenberry didn't seem too concerned about the couple skirmishes in Tuesday's practice.
"This is football," Cushenberry said. "You expect chippiness, especially (between) O-line and D-line. We need that. "
"...I don't think it's a bad sign at all. We just have to know not to cross the line."
Brian Callahan said something similar earlier Tuesday, noting that playing with an edge is OK but "we can't have (fighting)."
Brian Callahan hopeful Nicholas Petit-Frere will return to practice on Friday
Titans coach Brian Callahan said after Tuesday's practice that he is hopeful for OT Nicholas Petit-Frere's return to practice on Friday. Petit Frere has been on the PUP list since the start of training camp while rehabbing a knee injury.
Jeffery Simmons involved in first skirmishes in padded practice
Jeffery Simmons and JC Latham initially had a brief disagreement following a rep, then a larger skirmish occurred after a Simmons-Peter Skoronski rep to the ground, which turned into a dog pile involving Arden Key and others.
Titans coaches had to huddle the team together to re-focus. Brian Callahan was not happy.

Titans 2024 schedule
The Tennessee Titans begin their 2024 NFL season on Sept. 8 in Chicago against the Bears and hold their home opener the following Sunday against the New York Jets. They play just one prime-time game this season, a "Monday Night Football" matchup against the Miami Dolphins. See the Titans' complete schedule here.
Titans predictions 2024
Predictions for the Titans in 2024 aren't particularly positive. Given Levis' lack of experience as a starting NFL quarterback and the team with a first-year head coach, offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator, coupled with the emergence of the Houston Texans in the AFC South, the Titans' playoff hopes aren't strong.
That said, adding veterans like Sneed, Ridley and center Lloyd Cushenberry III gives the Titans a better roster than last season's. See our game-by-game predictions for the Titans' 2024 season here.
Titans odds 2024
BetMGM gives the Titans +15000 odds to win the Super Bowl, tied for the second-worst in the league. They have +900 odds to win the AFC South, +400 odds to make the playoffs and the over/under for wins this season is 6.5.
