Late Queen's favourite £10 takeaway she'd send footman down the road to pick up
The late Queen Elizabeth II, despite her access to the world's most exquisite cuisines, had a soft spot for a classic £10 takeaway.
Her go-to comfort food was reportedly simple yet satisfying fish and chips from the local town of Ballater, which she enjoyed during her stays at Balmoral Castle.
A Royal insider spilled the beans to Fabulous, revealing: "She very occasionally treated herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral. A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater."
But that wasn't the only fast-food indulgence for the monarch, as she's said to have also fancied a kebab now and then. Hello! magazine's Royal correspondent Jayne Seymour got the scoop that Sandringham House once placed a delivery order from Krazy Kebabs in Swaffham, reports the Mirror.
The delivery driver recounted to Jane: "I assumed the food was for a servant. But when I got to the entrance a butler took it and said it was for the Queen. I hope she enjoyed it we are known for the best kebabs in Norfolk."
Meanwhile, Prince William has his own fast-food favourite: Nando's. In the BBC documentary 'Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health', which aired in May 2020, he confessed his love for the chain, saying:"Everyone loves a Nando's." He even shared a cheeky tidbit about his personal police escort, adding with a laugh: "In fact, the policeman who's on with me again [today], he's the one who gets me the Nando's the whole time. It's his fault."
Back in 2017, the Duchess of Cambridge spilled the beans on her top takeaway choice during a chat with BBC Radio 1 alongside Prince William. Kate confessed: "Curry, definitely," but then admitted that she often ends up enjoying it solo because William isn't too keen on spicy cuisine.
The Royal pair shared a cheeky insight into their food habits, revealing: "It doesn't usually get ordered to the palace, we tend to go and pick it up," and they quipped "not ourselves! ".
In a heart-to-heart with her son Tom Parker Bowles for YOU Magazine, Queen Camilla disclosed her go-to comfort food is none other than a British classic. She enthused about "freshly cooked fish and chips, wrapped in paper," adding, "That smell. You cannot beat proper fish and chips."
Meanwhile, King Charles has shown a penchant for Italian delights. During a visit to Scotland in November 2019, he couldn't hide his delight when presented with a Margarita pizza by an admirer in St Boswells.
Chef Erminio Di Meo recounted the charming encounter to the Press Association, saying: "I wanted to give him the pizza as he is such a big part of this country. He was curious, he smiled and I said 'it's a margherita'. I believe he said 'it's my favourite'."
