Naomi Campbell ‘not ready to be a mother’ at 49
Naomi Campbell, 49, has revealed that she’s in no rush to settle down and have children.
In a new interview with WSJ. Magazine, the supermodel opened up about the subject of parenthood, claiming she views herself as a mother figure to the children who cross her path via her philanthropic work.
When asked by the publication about any potential plans to have children, she responded: “Not yet - I’ll see what the universe brings me. For now, what the universe has delivered is very much in the spirit of a ‘chosen family’.”
Included in that ‘chosen family’ is South Sudanese model Adut Akech, who Naomi has taken under her wing.
Motherhood may not be in the supermodel’s immediate plans, and she’s in no great rush to settle down romantically either revealing to the magazine that she’s perfectly happy being single.
Commenting on her dating life, the British model said: “For me, privacy is important to know each other, and I always worry that my job will not allow that.”
Recalling advice given to her by actor, Robert De Niro, Naomi added: “Being alone doesn’t mean you are lonely. I don’t have time to be bored, and I don’t have time to be lonely.”

The supermodel certainly does lead a busy life. Last month, the fashion muse hosted another year of her Fashion For Relief charity show during London Fashion Week.
Bringing her charity runway show back to her hometown to raise money towards disadvantaged communities in London, Naomi was joined by friends and family during as she showcased her latest Spring Summer collection at the star-studded runway show at the British Museum.
Earlier this year the supermodel also opened up about her diet, revealing that she can go days at a time without eating.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, the 49-year-old supermodel told Dan Wooton that she eats when she feels like it.
"It can be more than one day [that I don't eat]. I eat when I feel like it,” she said.
“I don't starve myself. If I want to do a day of just not eating, I do it, and just do water or juice.”
Explaining the reason behind her periods of fasting, Naomi claimed the hot weather can put her off solid food, meaning she opts for liquid meals instead.
“In the heat sometimes I don't, I just want to do juice, it's too hot," she said.
