Fans react to Lily Allen's grey roots on Instagram: 'They're wisdom highlights'
With most of us not being able to have our hair done (apart from the amateur chop by our friend or family member) for three months, it’s safe to say we’re all counting down the days until the hairdressers re-open.
That is, everybody apart from Lily Allen, who is rocking the grey roots in a rather impressive manner.
The 35-year-old shared a seemingly make-up free photo of herself with grey roots visible through her usually dark hair.
She’s notoriously honest on her Instagram account, doing everything without a filter, something we’ve come to know and love about the singer.
She shared the photo alongside the granny emoji on her Instagram account.

We’ve seen it all during the lockdown; Emily Ratajkowski stunned fans by turning her signature brunette locks blonde, Heidi Klum couldn’t possibly wait until lockdown was over so created this socially-distanced version of the hairdressers, even Jacinda Arden has been busy colouring her fiancé’s hair.
We haven’t seen many celebrities just embracing the realities of lockdown hair, though. That is until Lily Allen shared her hairstyle.
Within seconds, people were commenting on how refreshing it was to see a celebrity post this sort of selfie.
Is this the relatable content we’ve all been waiting for?

“This is so cool. You look great and also made me feel better about myself. Win win.” Grace Woodward commented.
Many of us are in the same boat at the moment, so having celebrities share the realities of the lockdown beauty regime - or lack of - feels refreshingly novel.
A few more celebrities piled on the compliments with Poppy Delevingne describing Allen as a “beauty” and Professor Green simply sharing the Queen emoji.
Many people were all for embracing our natural hair colours, and perhaps being unable to get to a hairdresser has made people come to terms with their natural shades.
“Natural hair colour looks amazing on everyone, your hair changes to suit changes to your skin tone as we age,” one fan of Allen’s new look said.
Another simply described her grey flecks as “wisdom highlights”, which is a really quite nice way of seeing grey hair - something that many people try to cover up.

Allen isn’t the first celebrity to free the greys. Just recently, Drew Barrymore revealed that she was embracing her “natural” greys now that she’s a mum.
The 45-year-old said: “Now I’m a mom and in my mid-forties, I have the hair colour I like — drama-free and more natural.
“It takes 30 minutes to do my base of greys. I only barely cover them, so that the follicles can still grab the light as it grows out. (Yes, your greys can double as highlights with the right tint!)”
We’re here for it.
