Kim Kardashian apologises for 'insensitive' weight loss comments
Kim Kardashian has apologised after facing a backlash about comments made earlier this year by her sisters about her recent weight loss.
In case you missed it, back in July the reality star posted behind-the-scenes footage from the If Only charity poker tournament to Instagram Stories.
In the videos, her sisters Kendall Jenner and Khloé Kardashian, can be heard comparing her slim figure to that of someone who has an eating disorder.
In one of the clips, younger sister Kendall tells Kim on camera: “No, I’m really concerned, I don’t think you’re eating. Like, you look so skinny.””Whaaaaat?!” Kim squeals delightedly in response. “Oh my god, thank you!”
In a later video, Kim went on to claim she’s “not that skinny,” noting that she was only “down to 119 pounds.”
Sister Khloe then explained that “Your hair extensions, your ass, your tits, everything, they’re heavy,” before describing Kim’s waist as “anorexic”.

Unsurprisingly the clips didn’t go down well on the Internet with people taking to social media to slam the dangerous message the comments were sending about body image.
And though Kim doesn’t always respond to criticism, this time she has held her hands up to apologise.
Speaking on Ashley Graham’s new podcast Pretty Big Deal she admitted the comments were wrong. “I honestly, looking back in having said that, I 100 percent completely understand where people would be coming from that felt that way,” she said.
“So my intention is never to offend anyone and I really, you know, apologise if I offended anyone, because an eating disorder is – I know people that have serious eating disorders that have been in and out of the hospital for 15 years, close people.
“So I’ve like, been through, I have experienced it enough to have, like, known better.”
The mum-of-three went on to explain that while filming with her sisters, she got “carried away” laughing and joking with the pair.
“You know, sometimes when you’re, you know I was, like, with my sisters and we were laughing and joking and it’s loud and you are, you know, I dunno, I guess, sometimes you can get, like, carried away and just, it was insensitive, you know, and it definitely wasn’t my intention though.
“And I think, especially my fans and everyone that was watching was supportive, like, “OK, look, like, maybe you guys shouldn’t have said that but I know what you were saying’”.

It isn’t the first time Kim Kardashian has sparked controversy surrounding the subject of weight and weight loss.
Earlier this year, she received a backlash after sharing an Instagram ad promoting appetite-suppressing lollipops with many followers declaring their upset that the reality star was using her platform to support problematic diet fads.
And just a few weeks later the reality television star sparked further controversy after writing a post on her website titled: ‘How I Maximise Fat Loss’.
Actress and former television presenter, Jameela Jamil, lead the backlash with a tweet that read: “How do we minimise this woman’s bullshit? When will she just love herself and stop obsessing about how to ‘fix’ problems that were never there? She was always beautiful. She’s never seen it because she is broken by the SAME society that she now contributes more toxicity to.”
So while it is good Kim has apologised for some of her potentially harmful comments about weight, no doubt the Internet will be looking for a little more.
