Jennifer Lopez praised for introducing her child using they/them pronouns
Jennifer Lopez has performed a touching duet with her child, introducing them onto the stage using they/them pronouns.
Last week, the 52-year-old singer appeared at the LA Dodgers Blue Diamond Gala and welcomed Emme Maribel Muñiz, 14, to the stage to sing alongside her.
Lopez described Emme as “my favourite duet partner”, telling the crowd: “The last time we performed together was in a big stadium like this and I ask them to sing with me all the time, and they won't.
“So this is a very special occasion. They are very, very busy. Booked. And pricey. They cost me when they come out. But they're worth every single penny because they're my favourite duet partner of all time. So if you will indulge me.”

Emme, who has a twin Max, who Lopez shares with ex husband Marc Anthony, walked onto the stage carrying a microphone emblazoned with a rainbow, before singing Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years with their mother.
The duo went on to sing a verse of Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA, with Emme also joining in for the intro of Lopez's own song Let's Get Loud.

Following the performance a video was shared on TikTok of the moment Lopez introduced Emme, with many fans interpreting the performance as an affirmation of Emme's pronouns, and praising the star for respecting them.
"They" is how Emme identifies. This was Jlo [sic] sharing that information. it's beautiful to see her supporting her child," one wrote.
"I'm so glad we live in a time where parents are supporting then [sic] children," another added.
"As a mother who is fighting to make sure her child is seen, this is absolutely beautiful," another fan commented.
"Awww JLo respecting the pronouns," another user added.
Following the mother/child duet, Lopez shared a touching tribute to fiancé Ben Affleck to celebrate Father’s Day.

The post featured a video montage of them throughout their relationship alongside a message praising the Gone Girl actor as the most "caring, loving, affectionate, consistent and selfless Daddy ever".

As footage and photographs played in the montage, the Jenny From The Block singer said that while she loves her career, "nothing is more fulfilling to her than being able to build a family with someone that she loves deeply and is just as dedicated to family" as her.
While the couple don't share any kids together, Affleck and his ex-wife Jennifer Garner co-parent three children, Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, ten.
Lopez is mum to 14-year-old twins Emme Maribel and Maximilian 'Max', who she welcomed during her past marriage to Marc Anthony.

Ben Affleck has previously opened up about rekindling his romance with Lopez, describing their reunion as "beautiful" and adding that reconnecting with the woman he had previously hoped to marry is a "great story".
The former couple delighted the world last year when rumours started swirling that Bennifer were back together, following J-Lo's split from former New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez.
When Lopez made their relationship Instagram official it was clear Bennifer 2.0 was back on.
Lifting the lid on their second-time romance, which previously ended in 2004, the actor described it as "beautiful".
"I can say that it’s definitely beautiful to me," Affleck told the Wall Street Journal. "And, you know, one of the things I really value across all facets of my life now is that it was handled in a way that reflected that,” he continued.
Hinting further about the topic, Affleck added: “And it is a good story. It’s a great story.
"And, you know, maybe one day I’ll tell it. I’ll write it all out. And then I’ll light it on fire."
The actor went on to say that he was "lucky" to have been given a chance to rekindle his romance with the singer.
"I am very lucky in my life in that I have benefited from second chances, and I am aware that other people don’t even get first chances," he said.
Last week Lopez stole the show at at the MTV Movie & TV Awards both on the red carpet and on stage.
The actor and singer rocked a black Monot dress, complete with 'Sugar Cube' earrings by Candy Ice, a Jimmy Choo clutch bag and shoes from her collab with DSW, as she arrived at the awards show in LA, where she was honoured with the 'Generation Award'.
