Jennifer Lopez makes impact with cutout leather dress and moving speech at MTV Awards

Jennifer Lopez stole the show at at the MTV Movie & TV Awards both on the red carpet and on stage.
The actor and singer, 52, rocked a black Monot dress, complete with 'Sugar Cube' earrings by Candy Ice, a Jimmy Choo clutch bag and shoes from her collab with DSW, as she arrived at the awards show in LA, where she was honoured with the 'Generation Award'.
Later in the evening, the star gave a "different kind of list of thank yous" in her acceptance speech, acknowledging those who had tried to hold her back, as well as her children and fiancé Ben Affleck.

"I want to thank the people who gave me joy and the ones who broke my heart," she said.
"The ones who were true and the ones who lied to me. I want to thank true love and I want to thank the way I lied to myself – because that's how I knew I could grow."
The star of Marry Me became emotional as she thanked her children "for teaching me how to love", prompting the audience to applaud and cheer louder.
"I want to thank all the people who told me – to my face or when I wasn't in the room – that I couldn't do this. I really don't think I could have done it without you.
"And I know I couldn't have done it without the fans who saw the movies."
She added, "You are the reason that I am here and I have been here, and I love you."

Lopez also thanked her "ride or die" manager Benny Medina. Despite the fact "he doesn't like me to talk about him", she said that "if there's one person who believed in me from the beginning, from the first time I played him a raggedy little demo of a song that I had written that day, he never let me stop believing in myself – it was him".
And last but not least, she rounded off her speech with a special thanks. "And Ben and everybody at home, wait for me to have dinner, I'll be home at seven."
After around two decades apart, the pair reportedly reunited as a couple in April 2021, getting engaged a year later.

"Did you ever imagine your biggest dream could come true?" she wrote shortly after in her newsletter, On The JLo. "Saturday night while at my favourite place on earth (in the bubble bath), my beautiful love got on one knee and proposed.
"I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again, I was quite literally speechless and he said, 'is that a yes?' I said YES of course that's a YES."
The Generation Award, which celebrates "beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and television have turned them into household names," according to MTV, comes ahead of the release of her new documentary Halftime, in which she reflects on her multifaceted career and the pressure of life in the spotlight.
