I'm A Celebrity's Tulisa comes out as demi-sexual after long stretch of celibacy

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star Tulisa Contostavlos has opened up about her sexuality in the ITV camp, revealing that she considers herself as "demi-sexual". The N-Dubz singer opened up about her love life in tonight's episode of the reality show, chatting to Coronation Street's Alan Halsall and Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough about being single.

"I actually do enjoy being single, I enjoy being on my own," Dean said in Tuesday's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, while Alan added: "I've never done dating apps, I don't even know what I'd do!" When Dean looked at Tulisa and said: "We'd done them all, haven't we babes?" Tulisa responded with: "No I’ve only done Raya. I’m not really a dater, even though I’ve been on there, I’ve never gone on an actual date with anyone on there… I’m proper guarded.”

She went onto say: "I feel like I’m demi-sexual, I need to have a really close emotional bond with someone. I need actual depth.” She added: “I’m a slow, slow burner, I’ve been celibate for over three years.” Those who are demi sexual find that they are only sexually attracted to people after forming a strong emotional connection with them.

Dean quizzed her on what it’s like being celibate with Tulisa saying: “I don't feel like for me there's any feeling to it. I’m not an overly sexualised person. For me, it’s all about the connection and the emotions that I feel with someone and then wanting to express my feelings for them in that way.” Explaining the thought of sleeping with someone or going out and meeting someone “genuinely makes me feel physically sick”, she joked: “This is my temple, you cannot enter!”

As the campmates laughed, Alan said: “It sounds like a Bushtucker Trial where you’ve gotta find a key to Tulisa’s temple!”

Ahead of facing the jungle, Tulisa revealed that her name has been mispronounced for years - and that her real name is actually Tula. "My grandmother is also called Tula, so I was named after her," she explained. "Tulisa means 'tiny Tula' in Greek," she said on Olivia Attwood's podcast So Wrong It's Right. She added that the correct pronounciation of her name is Tul-ITZ-ah, not the commonly used Tuh-LEES-a. Laughing, Olivia said: "We just butcher it," to which the N Dubz singer replied: "Yeah... so that ended up being my nickname in Greek, growing up."

During the podcast, Tulisa also revealed that she has undergone plastic surgery due to a Bell's Palsy diagnosis. According to the NHS, the condition is a temporary weakness or lack of movement affecting one side of the face. "I had a massive burst of inflammation and it went down, but my whole face dropped. I couldn't move it, my face remained like that for seven months. I didn't go out, I just hid in the house," she revealed
