Meghan Markle left 'baffled' by Prince Harry's strange request
Meghan Markle was once left “baffled” after Prince Harry made a strange request while on a trip overseas. The pair, who stepped down as senior royals in 2020, have opened up about their life as working royals over the years, with the Duke of Sussex writing about his experience in his memoir, Spare.
In one moment from the book, Prince Harry, 40, recalled how he issued an urgent plea to Meghan as she visited India with children's poverty charity, World Vision, to promote gender equality. Ahead of the trip, the royal recalled how he advised Meghan, 43, to stay away from one particular photo opportunity.
Back in 1992, Harry’s late mother Princess Diana visited India on a royal tour with King Charles. During the tour she posed in front of India's most famous landmark, the Taj Mahal, and the picture made headlines across the globe.

However, with the photo becoming an iconic image for royal fans, the Duke of Sussex warned Meghan, who was still working as an actress at the time, to avoid having her picture taken in front of the landmark - something which left her confused as she was unaware of the original snap.
“Do not take a photo in front of the Taj Mahal. She’d asked why and I’d said: My mum. I’d explained that my mother had posed for a photo there, and it had become iconic, and I didn’t want anyone thinking Meg was trying to mimic my mother,” he wrote in his memoir. “Meg had never heard of this photo, and found the whole thing baffling, and I loved her for being baffled.”
Since stepping back as senior royals four years ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living in Montecito, California where they have been busy promoting causes close to their hearts. Earlier this month Meghan was seen enjoying herself at a glam party in California.
As she attended the launch event for Highbrow Hippie, a new haircare range which was co-created by her good friend and Hollywood hair colourist, Kadi Lee, the mum-of-two was all smiles and in snaps and clips from party-goers' Instagram stories, she could be seen posing with Kadi and celebrity hairstylist Serge Normant.
Meanwhile in another video, Meghan was seen applauding Kadi and her business partner Myka Harris as they spoke to the guests at the cosy California gathering. Prince Harry didn't appear to accompany her at the event.
