GQ pokes fun at Vanity Fair’s photoshop fail with latest cover
GQ magazine has revealed its annual comedy cover and the star-studded shoot seemingly pokes fun at Vanity Fair‘s now-famous photoshop fail.

Comedians Sarah Silverman, Issa Rae and Kate McKinnon are featured posing on the front of the publication with their limbs photoshopped into mind-bending positions.

The clever cover – shot by photographer Martin Schoeller – is in reference to Vanity Fair‘s highly-scrutinised Hollywood edition where eagle-eyed fans noticed that Reese Witherspoon seemed to gain a third leg thanks to an embarrassing photoshop mishap.

Social media understandably went into overdrive, as one reader joked via Twitter: “Oprah has three hands & Reese has three legs, and we are here for accepting them for who they are!! 2018 is all about LOVING OUR BODIES!!”
In response to the gaffe, Vanity Fair tweeted: “While we would have loved the exclusive on @RWitherspoon’s three legs, unfortunately it’s just the lining of her dress.”
As for @Oprah, how can we expect her to juggle it all with just two hands?

To further take advantage of the joke, GQ has also issued a mock apology in a statement which reads: “GQ would like to apologise to Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, and Sarah Silverman for the egregious mistakes made in the process of creating the cover for our 2018 comedy issue, the latest in our pantheon of mostly annual love letters to the funniest humans we know.”
The publication continues, “Our intention was to celebrate the three super-funny superstars, who are all that is smart and perceptive and riotous and necessary in comedy right now. We deeply regret that the results violated GQ’s rigorous standards of editorial excellence and the laws of nature.”
“In an effort to ensure that an error of this magnitude never happens again, and because this sounds like the right thing to say, GQ will be conducting a thorough internal audit of our cover-development process.”
It’s not going out on a limb to say we love Issa, Kate, and Sarah. Props to @GQMagazine for getting a leg up on this trend. https://t.co/CF4BWUhVND
