These plus-size models just proved how easy it is to Photoshop images of yourself
From highly edited Instagram snaps to false magazine covers, we’re all aware of the irresponsible use of Photoshop in the fashion industry. And two plus-size models have demonstrated just how easy it is to pull off.
Diana Sirokai and Callie Thorpe asked professional photographer Karina Poltavtceva to Photoshop an image of the pair.
Sirokai then took to the social media platform to share two photographs, one highly edited snap and a natural shot. And the result is astounding.

Thorpe wrote: “It’s no wonder women are laden with insecurities. For years we have been subjected to perfect airbrushed and often altered images across the media.”
She continued, “I think @dianasirokai and I look perfect just as we are, two friends smiling for a photo. We want to show women that it’s okay to look ‘normal’, to have cellulite, stretch marks and tummies that aren’t flat and toned. Be happy with you who you are and the skin you are in.”
With more of us becoming aware of the powers of Photoshop, Instagram users often flock to use the hashtag #photoshopfails when they catch celebrities in the act.
Only recently, image giant Getty announced that the company would no longer Photoshop models featured in their photographs. While online retailer ASOS stopped Photoshopping models last summer.
And the images shared by Sirokai and Thorpe will hopefully encourage more of us to step out from behind the false filters of Instagram and be proud of who we really are.
