Where mock drafts have LSU baseball players commits going in 2024 MLB Draft

The start of the 2024 MLB Draft is just days away with things getting going in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sunday night (6 p.m., CT, ESPN).

All 30 MLB teams will partake in the 20-round draft that will span three days, from Sunday to Tuesday, selecting the next possible stars of their franchises. The first two rounds will commence Sunday night. Rounds 3 through 10 will make up Day 2 before the MLB Draft closes on Day 3 (Tuesday) with rounds 11 through 20.

Much like every year, LSU baseball has a load of current players, as well as commits to the program, projected to be selected throughout the 20 rounds. Last year, the Tigers had an historic MLB Draft with 13 total players chosen, headlined by the pitcher Paul Skenes and outfielder Dylan Crews going No. 1 and 2 overall to the Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals, respectively.

How will things fare for LSU players in the 2024 MLB Draft? Here's what the latest mock drafts and projections say.

William Schmidt, LSU baseball commit

A hometown kid, the Catholic-Baton Rouge stud pitcher looks to be one of the top two high school arm in the 2024 MLB Draft. The LSU commit is a righty, and there's trepidation from clubs from taking high school righties but Schmidt's mix of fastball, curve and an offspeed along with his frame (6-4, 180), teams do love his upside.

Boston Bateman, LSU baseball commit

Bateman is 6-7 and a lefty. Eyes were going to be on the high school prospect because of those two aspects. The Camarillo (California) High School product has performed well at showcase events and the LSU commit has parleyed those into being ranked the No. 57 overall prospect in this year's draft.

Gage Jump, LSU baseball pitcher

Jump was an 18th round draft choice out of high school back in 2021 by the Padres but he opted to go to UCLA. The left-hander has had Tommy John, missed the 2023 season prior to transferring to LSU last offseason but his stuff has come back to pre-injury levels. Per MLB.com, he could be a top-3 round selection.

Cade Arrambide, LSU baseball commit

Arrambide might could go in the top three rounds of the 2024 MLB Draft, per MLB.com's analysis of the high school catcher. The Tomball, Texas native has one of the stronger arms from behind the plate in the draft and coupled with his hitting, Arrambide is an attractive prospect.

Derek Curiel, LSU baseball commit

The Orange Lutheran (Orange, California) star rates as the No. 117 prospect in this year's MLB Draft. Curiel is committed to LSU and his left-handed bat is enticing for MLB clubs.

Kale Fountain, LSU baseball commit

Per MLB.com, Fountain could be selected in the third round of the 2024 MLB Draft. The Norris (Nebraska) High School product is rated No. 121 overall and according to analysts, the 6-5, 225-pound righthander has a hot bat.

Herring comes into the 2024 MLB Draft as the No. 157 overall player, per MLB.com. The lefthander has potential to start in the Big Leagues but hasn't filled that role in college. Johnson has said if Herring opts to return to Baton Rouge, he'll start on the weekends next season.
