Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons mix it up in scuffle during training camp joint practice

MIAMI GARDENS — Tempers flared between the Miami Dolphins defense and Atlanta Falcons offense at training camp joint practice on Tuesday morning.

It seems without dispute that Dolphins cornerback Ethan Bonner and Falcons wide receiver Drake London were involved.

One veteran reporter said he saw Dolphins cornerback Elijah Campbell somewhat involved.

Tyreek Hill and Terron Armstead ran across the field to monitor things.

Former Falcon and current Dolphins Calais Campbell tried to play peace-maker.

Coaches always warn players not to fight and then they do anyway.

Miami's defense has made it an offseason theme to be tougher, more physical, more aggressive.

They want to be, well, bullies.

"Got a little feisty there the other side," Dolphins safety Jevon Holland said. "It seems like that's just the nature sometimes when you have two opposing teams going against each other. It's just kind of like, kind of like, hey, protect my team. They're protecting their team. So, you know, things get frisky, get feisty, get rowdy. But you know, it happens, and just kind of got to move on."

The warm temperatures in South Florida surely don't help matters.

In general, the Dolphins were better than the Falcons - on offense and defense - on Tuesday.

"I really don't know what happened, so I can't really speak on it," Miami receiver Tyreek Hill said. "But it's good to see guys, like, you know, never back down from anyone, man. That shows a lot when guys shy away from confrontation. That shows a lot in your character. So for the guys that we got on this team, I don't see many guys doing that. And you can see that on the other field. Those guys were going at it. So it's a beautiful thing to see, man."

The Dolphins want to be physical on both sides of the ball in 2024.

Their offensive line is going to be tested without Connor Williams and Robert Hunt, who have departed.

Calais Campbell is peacemaker at Dolphins-Falcons crap

Miami defensive lineman Calais Campbell was with the Falcons last season.

"We've got a whole bunch of guys that are scrappy," Campell said of his new teammates. "I mean, there's a narrative, you know, that I think we try to change. We want to be tough guys. That's just part of it."

Campbell added that the most important thing is the practice work.

Round 2 is Wednesday in Miami Gardens.
