Memphis vs North Texas score today: Final score, highlights from Week 8 game
That looked like last season’s Memphis football team.
The Tigers (6-1, 2-1 AAC) outran North Texas (5-2, 2-1) on Saturday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, beating the Mean Green 52-44 in a performance that was reminiscent of Memphis teams from the past few years but not of this team that has mostly relied on its defense.
Mario Anderson rushed for 183 yards and four touchdowns, while the passing attack looked much improved. Quarterback Seth Henigan threw for 319 yards and a touchdown, including a 62-yard connection with Demeer Blankumsee at a key moment in the third quarter.
It was a shootout almost from the jump, but the Tigers were always in the game. North Texas’ offense moved the ball with ease for most of the game, but Memphis ultimately came up with enough stops and enough points to earn its second conference win.
The Tigers are back at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium on Saturday when they host Charlotte (11 a.m. CT, ESPNU).
