Race recap: Will Power wins Iowa Race 2, as crash mars finish

It's time for the back end of the IndyCar Series doubleheader at Iowa Speedway, another 250-lap race on the .875-mile oval.

Scott McLaughlin starts from the pole position as he comes off his first series oval win. He led 164 laps Saturday night, edging past Colton Herta coming out of an early pit stop and maintaining the advantage from there.

Conor Daly is subbing in for an injured Jack Harvey, who tried to race Saturday night before retiring with neck and back pain.

Will Power wins Iowa Race 2 in the IndyCar Series

Will Power takes advantage of both pit stops to charge from a start of 22nd to win, his second victory a little over a month and 43rd in his career. This is Power's first oval victory since Pocono in 2019.

Power was the last to make his first pit stop, and because it came after a sudden caution, he leaped from the rear of the field to 2nd. His crew performed best on the 2nd pit stop, allowing him to assume the lead.

"Massive fuel save," Power acknowledged on NBC after the checkered flag.

Alex Palou recovers from Saturday night's crash to finish 2nd and maintain his series points lead.

The rest of the top 10: Pole-sitter Scott McLaughlin, Scott Dixon, Colton Herta, Pato O'Ward, Josef Newgarden, Graham Rahal, Rinus VeeKay and Romain Grosjean.

Alexander Rossi, Kyle Kirkwood, Ed Carpenter and Sting Ray Robb are involved in a huge crash at the finish. Robb goes airborne after running over Rossi's car. Robb gets attention from the safety crew and gives a thumbs up as he is loaded into an ambulance. The other drivers appear to be OK.
