FAMU football lands former Florida State receiver Goldie Lawrence from NCAA Transfer Portal
Former Florida State football wide receiver Goldie Lawrence is returning to Tallahassee.
However, the redshirt freshman landed a mile away.
On Friday, Lawrence announced on X/Twitter that he’s transferring to play for the Florida A&M Rattlers.
Lawrence has four eligibility years remaining and initially transferred from FSU to UCF in February before re-entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Lawrence joining FAMU football adds him to a team defending its Black College National Championship under first-year head coach James Colzie III, also a former FSU football player.
Other former Seminoles on the Rattlers’ roster are tight end Koby Gross, offensive linemen Jalen Goss and Christopher Williams, and defensive back Demorie Tate.
According to HERO Sports’ Sam Herder, Lawrence is FAMU’s 27th transfer from the Football Bowl Subdivision ranks, which is the most amongst Football Championship Subdivision teams this season.
Lawrence was ranked a consensus three-star by recruiting outlets 247Sports, On3, and Rivals.com, starring for Seminole High School in his hometown of Sanford, Florida.
While at Seminole High School, Lawrence complied 93 catches for 1,497 yards and 32 total touchdowns, ultimately landing him a spot to play at FSU.
Lawrence appeared in just one game versus Southern Miss during FSU’s Atlantic Coast Conference Championship run in 2023.
