Tally Ties: FAMU lands Rickards alumnus, FSU transfer Christopher Williams

Another one.

Florida A&M football is still beefing up its offensive line after coach Willie Simmons mentioned that he had some feelers out and was awaiting commitments ahead of the first practice July 29.

This time the Rattlers landed a familiar face in the Big Bend area in offensive lineman Christopher Williams.

It didn't take long for the former Rickards and Florida State offensive lineman to find a new home.

On July 12, Williams - a 6-foot-7, 320-pounder - announced his plans to enter the transfer portal and expressed his gratitude to the FSU coaching staff via Twitter.

Three days later, he became a Rattler.

Williams was a member Rickards' FHSAA Class 5A runners-up football team in 2020.

On National Signing Day 2021, he bet on himself and committed to FSU as a preferred walk-on.

Williams redshirted for the Seminoles a season ago and still has four years of eligibility left.

His commitment to the Rattlers comes five days after former Louisville offensive tackle Toryque Bateman announced his plans to join the team.

Williams' former FSU teammate Jalen Goss will also suit up for the Rattler offensive line this season.

With the addition of Williams, the Rattlers have 17 offensive lineman entering training camp. He is one of six freshmen along with his former Rickards teammate Myron Ward.

Another Big Bend athlete FAMU has picked up for the 2022 football season is former Lincoln long snapper Tyler Riley.
