Sanford-Seminole High School wide receiver Darren “Goldie” Lawrence has made his decision.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound rising senior has offers from Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee, UCF, West Virginia, and others.

Lawrence, who initially committed to Florida before decommitting in January, is announcing the school he plans to sign with in an exclusive commitment video with the USA Today Network.

“The recruiting process has been crazy,” Lawrence said. “That was hard, decommitting from my favorite school. The relationships I built with the coaches are really important to me. I’m glad I’ve found my home.”

Lawrence is a three-star recruit, the No. 63 receiver in the nation and the No. 80 overall player in the state on the 247Sports composite.

He helped Seminole win the Class 8A state championship in 2020 and became the focal point of the offense last fall.

Lawrence caught 54 passes for 783 yards and 11 touchdowns, rushed for 43 yards and four touchdowns, and completed all three of his pass attempts including a pair of touchdown passes in 2021. He helped Seminole reach the regional championship game and earned second-team all-state honors in Class 8A.

Lawrence caught a career-high nine passes and recorded his third multi-touchdown game against eventual Class 8A state runner-up Apopka in the regional championship game.

“Athletically, he’s a freak of nature,” Seminole coach Eric Lodge said. “Big, strong, fast. The biggest thing is how complete he is. There aren’t any holes in his game. We’ve had special athletes come through here and he really has all the tools to succeed.

“Receiver is a position where guys can kind of be soft. Especially in the 7-on-7 age, the physicality gets lost. His strength and physicality set him apart. He’s fast and has great hands, but his ability to break tackles, block and be a complete player sets him apart.”
