Dolphins Jaylen Wright and Chop Robinson are geeked for NFL debut

MIAMI GARDENS — Jaylen Wright and Chop Robinson, exciting Miami Dolphins rookies, are preparing for the anxiety that will come with their first real NFL game.

"I like to stay locked in, just have time to myself," Wright, the running back, said of his pregame plan. "I mean prayer, I pray a lot. You know if it weren't for God, I would be nothing. So I mean prayer, you know me praying, that calms me down, calms all my nerves down, you know, just have my confidence and be ready to perform."

Chop Robinson, the edge rusher, plans to dial into his music and stick with a familiar drill.

"For me, it's just keep working on my hands before the game," Chop said. "Because I was doing that in college every single day, every time before the game, working on my hands and playing my music. I always kept my headphones on before the game."

What will Chop listen to?

"Lil Key and Ghost Wick," Chop said.

Chop, 21, said he should have at least eight family members and friends in attendance at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Jaylen, 21, is looking forward to having Mom and Dad in the stands.

Robinson, the first-rounder from Penn State, will be counted on early, with Pro Bowler Bradley Chubb out at least the first four games due to a knee injury.

Chop Robinson news: Dolphins rookie making moves

Recently, Miami coach Mike McDaniel noted Chop is making some adjustments from the college game.

"You have to really tighten that angle because quarterbacks don’t drop back as far, as well as just different keys to how to play the game within the game," McDaniel said.

But McDaniel and Dolphins players have also expressed optimism about the impact both players should be able to make as rookies.

"You earn your stripes with your teammates," McDaniel said of rookies. "It's not given, but you can feel when the guys are anointing you as one of the people that can help them accomplish a team goal."

The Dolphins see that in Robinson and Wright.

Jaylen Wright fantasy: Why to consider drafting him

Wright knows he starts the season behind veteran Raheem Mostert and second-year player De'Von Achane.

"Preparation meets opportunity, so just me being prepared and me being ready for whenever that moment comes," Wright said. "I'm fully confident that I'm going to take advantage of that opportunity."

Robinson is hoping he can deliver his first NFL sack on Sunday.

Celebrations are kind of a big thing around the Dolphins, and he pledges to be prepared.

"When I get that sack, you'll see," he said.
