Fantasy football: Miami Dolphins' Jaylen Wright value goes up after preseason

MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins rookie running back Jaylen Wright proved worthy of his draft status - if anything he should have gone higher than the fourth round - in this NFL preseason.

But the Dolphins have two other outstanding running backs, Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane.

So where should that put Wright in fantasy football drafts?

Mostert was tied with Christian McCaffrey with 21 touchdowns last season and led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns.

As a rookie, Achane averaged a ridiculous 7.8 yards per attempt.

In ESPN fantasy drafts, Achane is the 13th running back selected, 33rd overall.

Mostert is the 28th running back selected, 100th overall.

That's too big of a gap. Yes, Achane is younger and even more dynamic than Mostert.

But we cannot discount Mostert's touchdown propensity.

If you draft Achane or Mostert, Wright as a "handcuff" pick is recommended.

If Mostert and/or Achane were injured, Wright is capable of becoming a RB1 in any given week.

Jaylen Wright fantasy: move Miami Dolphins' running back up

In ESPN drafts, Wright is the 52nd running back, 168th overall.

That's too low. Wright it too good. Too fast. Too talented.

Wright averaged 5.4 yards on 17 rushing attempts in the preseason.

Jaylen Wright news: Dolphins' player ready to contribute

He has excellent vision and toughness and is an ideal fit for Mike McDaniel's zone scheme offense.

"I feel like I'm a back that can stay on the field all three downs," Wright said after the third preseason game, at Tampa. "I feel like I'm a back, you know, flex out wide, run routes, catch the ball out of the backfield, you know, get in open space, you know, and just make a miss open space, you know, create explosive plays."

Achane, 22, missed six of 17 games last season with injury.

Mostert, 32, has missed only three games the past two seasons, after injuries in previous seasons.

Wright, 21, had 1,013 yards and averaged 7.4 yards per carry with Tennessee last season.

Are there two backs ahead of Wright at the moment?

Yes.

But trust us, there's no way he should be the 52nd running back on your fantasy draft board.
