Another week, another injury to a Buffalo Bills defensive starter.
Buffalo lost former All-Pro linebacker Matt Milano to a torn biceps in training camp. All-Pro nickel back Taron Johnson went down with a forearm injury on the seventh play of the season. Linebacker Terrel Bernard, the Bills' leading tackler a year ago, exited with a pectoral strain in the first quarter in Week 2.
The Jacksonville Jaguars added injury to insult when tight end Evan Engram injured his hamstring in warmups and didn't play in their 18-13 loss Sunday to the Cleveland Browns. Running back Tank Bigsby was rocked on a second-quarter kickoff return, injured his shoulder, and did not play any snaps on offense.
The Bills get 10 days between games to recuperate before hosting the Jaguars on at 7:30 p.m. on Monday Night Football.
NFL teams have to submit a report on practice participation on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for a Monday game. There are three levels of practice participation that can be designated: did not participate, limited participation and full participation.
A game status report is due by 4 p.m. Saturday for Monday Night Football.

Taron Johnson, CB, forearm
Taron Johnson was injured seven plays into Week 1 while attempting to tackle Cardinals' wide receiver Greg Dortch. Johnson didn't return to the game. He missed Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins. Head coach Sean McDermott didn't give a timetable for the starting nickel back's return but Johnson has not been placed on injured reserve, which would have required him to miss four weeks.
"We're hoping it's a good thing we deemed it not necessary to put him on IR," McDermott said.
McDermott said Wednesday that Johnson will not play against the Jaguars.

Bigsby walked off under his own power, entered the blue medical medical tent and returned in the second half but did not play any offensive snaps.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Thursday that Bigsby is "doing well" and "on track to play."

Evan Engram, TE, hamstring
Evan Engram suffered a hamstring injury in pregame warmups in Week 2 and did not play. Engram's injury occured just before Jacksonville submitted its inactive list, leaving the team with two tight ends against the Browns.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said it's a "week-to-week" injury, putting Engram's availability against the Bills in doubt.
“It was significant enough to keep him out, hold him out of the football game yesterday,” Pederson said Monday. “We’ll see where he is this week. Optimistic but we’ve just got to see. Hamstrings can be funny. So, it’s kind of a week-to-week deal right now with him.”
NFL Network reporter Ian Rapaport reported Thursday that Engram's status is "very much up in the air" for Monday Night Football.
Status: Did not practice Thursday, Friday or Saturday; out
#Jaguars coach Doug Pederson says TE Evan Engram, who injured his hamstring in pre-game warmups on Sunday "is a little bit further away." Sounds like at least very much up in the air for MNF.

It's been a slow start for Engram, who had one catch for 5 yards in Week 1. He's coming off a career year, leading all NFL tight ends with 114 receptions and finishing with 963 receiving yards in 2023.
Tyler Lacy, DT, toe
Tyler Lacy was inactive with a toe injury in Week 2.
