This isn't a position Alvin Kamara has often found himself. The New Orleans Saints star running back and newly-minted team captain had an opportunity to put Sunday's game with the Atlanta Falcons to rest. Having just gotten the ball back off of an interception from Tyrann Mathieu, Kamara and the Saints offense set up shop and quickly entered a manageable third down near midfield.

As we've seen so many times before, the Saints went for an easy completion to Kamara to pick up a fresh set of downs and force Atlanta  to burn their timeouts. Running free downfield with a couple of steps on his old teammate Kaden Elliss, Kamara had an opportunity to put the game away. He watched the ball float to him and hit him in both hands. Then he dropped it for an incomplete pass.

"That was the lamest thing I've ever done in my life, playing football," Kamara said after the game, "I was just mad that I put (the defense) back on the field, really. I wasn't concerned with them going back and doing what they had to do. I just wished I had iced it so we could ride off into the sunset."

It was an uncharacteristic drop, and no one knew that better than Kamara himself. He was still hurting from it after the game. But they won the day, and interim head coach Darren Rizzi recognized his efforts with a game ball in the victorious locker room. This is something they can all build off of. It  arrived when they needed it most. Now they have too do it all over again, but you can bet this time Kamara will move heaven and earth to catch the next pass thrown his way.
