Wynne Evans has been entertaining both the judges and Strictly fans with his characterful performances on Strictly Come Dancing, including appearances as Mrs Doubtfire for a cha cha and a devil for Halloween week. He has received high praise from the judges for being entertaining, with judge Craig Revel Horwood, who is famous for his harsh comments, simply saying "I love you" after Wynne and Katya Jones' rumba to Shirley Bassey's This Is My Life on Saturday's show.

However, Wynne has now hinted that his iconic character from the Go Compare adverts, Gio Compario could make a ballroom debut before the series os out. He shared a post from a fan to his Instagram story which said: "@wynneevans @katyajones - if the two of you make the final please do the Go Compare theme as your Showdance - that would be very entertaining."

Reposting the image of the character which made him famous on the ads for the comparison website, Wynne responded with laughing faces. After dressing up as Mrs Doubtfire, it is safe to say that Gio Compario making an appearance is not out of the realm of possibility.

The pair safely made it through week seven of the competition after paying tribute to Welsh legend Shirley Bassey during Strictly's first ever 'icons' week. This weekend, Wynne and Katya will be taking to the famous ballroom to perform an American Smooth to Grace Kelly by MIKA.

Wynne has spoken about the public reaction to his unforgettable TV ad character, in the past. Back in 2020 he said: "when I saw the reaction I have to say I was a little bit shocked.

"But when it first came out it was it was high impact. It was on a lot – it was on all the time. I don't think everybody got the irony of it at the start and so it just became annoying to people which is fine because the business thrived. It went from not establishing itself to being a business that was highly profitable and it did that in a very, very short period of time."

He went on to say: "It was a shock because I was an opera singer and even though I was well-established as an opera singer I wasn't well known. So it was a shock that all of a sudden people are seeing you, people are knowing you, and that people would write things to you like that.

"The first month was maybe quite difficult. But after that – I mean once you've been called certain names once, twice, three times, the impact is less."

You can see Wynne and Katya return to the dancefloor this Saturday on Strictly Come Dancing, BBC One.
