Woman's Facebook rant goes viral after home waxing session goes horribly wrong
When it comes to body hair, is there anything more terrifying than waxing? We’ve all been told time and time again that it’s better long-term than shaving, it makes hair grow back thinner etc. etc., but that doesn’t really spring to mind during the toe-curling pain that accompanies each and every strip.
So imagine the distress that Hannah Scorer must have felt after deciding to wax her bikini line… only for the wax to remain firmly on her thigh.
Unfortunately for Hannah, it wasn’t just a case of her finger slipping and leaving the strip attached to her leg. Instead, the wax transferred onto her skin, and only the actual strip was left in her hand.
Hannah did what all of us would do in this moment, and took her anger to social media.
Writing on Boots’ (where she’d bought the offending strips) Facebook page, she let rip:
“Boots, we need to have a word.” she wrote.
“These are, categorically, the worst wax strips in the world. I haven’t tried all the other wax strips, but I’m confident I don’t need to. That’s how bad these are.”
Hannah then listed a few things she thought could have done a better job than the Boots Smooth Care wax strips she’d purchased, including ‘beeswax’, ‘candle wax’, and “the 2005 film House of Wax, starring Paris Hilton.”
She explained how she tried to use the wax removal wipes that came with the pack, only to find that this too got stuck to the offending wax on her thigh, looking like “a series of tiny surrender flags.”
Before admitting defeat, Hannah tried exfoliating the wax off, and eventually tackling it with a razor.
Which, of course, promptly blunted.
With no end in sight, she replaced the razor blade with a fresh one and finished the job that way, albeit to the loss of her will to live – and a lot of expensive oil.
Before signing off, she (very kindly) left Boots some advice: “Please remove them from sale immediately and gift them to the construction industry as an alternative to cement. Or pass them on to local councils looking for some anti-climb paint. Anything that doesn’t involve hair removal really.”
Admittedly this won’t put us off of waxing forever, but we’re definitely going to think twice about whether it’s really necessary next time.
