Wavy lips are the one bizarre beauty look that people just can't get with
If you thought wavy eyebrows and glitter tongues were wild, check out “wavy lips,” the latest addition to a growing collection of bizarre beauty trends. Social media influencer Lexington Hartman posted the unexpected lip look — and people, to say the least, just aren’t so into it.
Hartman posted her bare pucker, enhanced with a wavy pattern along her lip line, to Instagram, announcing, “New trend alert,” and asking followers if they would give the look a thumbs up or thumbs down. She followed this with, “Obviously this is MAKEUP and NOT FaceTune.”

In just 24 hours, the photo has already received more than 10,000 likes, and sparked a conversation through more than 700 comments. “This looks just like my cookie cutter,” one noted, while another chimed in with: “What’s with this wavy mess?”
The part of Hartman’s caption that many people didn’t get a chance to see was an important one: an update confirming that it was all just a joke!
Hartman told Yahoo Beauty that she noticed a lot of wavy eyebrow and wavy eyeliner looks floating around, and she thought it would be funny to mimic the pattern on her lips. She went on to share, “Yes, it is edited! I used FaceTune.”
The San Diego-based beauty vlogger, 21, enjoys having fun with her work, and just wanted to spice things up a bit. “I posted it ironically, so I figured there was going to be a lot of hate and backlash,” says Hartman. “I’m really big on incorporating humour into my work, and I rarely take myself seriously. I was honestly just surprised at how many people thought it was real make-up!”
Eventually, some people did realize it was joke, LOL’ing at her comedic play on all the bizarre trends now hitting the scene. At the end of the day, it’s just make-up, and she totally understands that. “I think all these new make-up trends are so fun. Even if they make people mad, it’s just make-up (or Photoshop),” Hartman said. “It pops up on your explore page for a few days, and then you never see it again. It’s not hurting anyone!”
