Model claims the Victoria's Secret fashion show has been cancelled

Victoria’s Secret model, Shanina Shaik, has claimed that the 2019 Victoria’s Secret fashion show has been cancelled.
The 28-year-old model dropped the bombshell earlier this week to The Daily Telegraph Australia, claiming that the catwalk show is going on a hiatus.
Victoria’s Secret declined to comment on the revelation to Yahoo UK.
Not everybody is surprised by the news. Due to the declining viewership in recent years, the show wasn’t expected to be broadcast on network television and now it seems it has been completely axed.

Shanina Shaik said in the interview that she wasn’t used to not having to “train like an angel”.
The model walked a total of five shows between 2011-2018.
“It's something I'm not used to because every year around this time I'm training like an angel. But I'm sure in the future something will happen which I'm pretty sure about.”
“I'm sure they're trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it's the best show in the world,” she revealed.

Many have argued that the show doesn’t fit with today’s audience and with Victoria Secret’s sister brand, L Brands, coming under fire recently, now might be the right time for a hiatus.
L Brands chief marketing officer, Ed Razek, caused controversy recently after he dismissed calls for the show to feature plus-size and transgender models.
He described the show as a “fantasy” and when questioned about whether transgender and plus-size models should be part of the show he simply said “no”.

Sports Illustrated Swimwear recently featured a model in a wheelchair as part of their catwalk show, further proving (if we needed more proof) that there is a place for diversity on the catwalks.
The world’s first range of luxury lingerie for transgender women has also just dropped.
The ball is in Victoria’s Secret’s court.
