The UK's best burger has been revealed
Who doesn’t love a good burger?
From a fast-food fave to a gourmet great, the humble burger is one of the world’s most popular foods.
But not all burgers are created equal – and one in particular must surely be there best out there.
And in Britain, that burger has been discovered, picking up the title of National Burger of the Year.
Relative newcomers to the burger world, Cut + Grind in London’s King’s Cross, was awarded the coveted title at the National Burger Awards 2018 (yep, that’s a thing).
Head Chef Sammy Aykac (formerly of Zelman Meats and Burger & Lobster) won with the Juicy Classic made with a chuck, brisket, rump and rib cap patty, served with burger béarnaise, lettuce, British cheddar, pickles and red onion.
Anyone else’s mouth watering right now?
The Juicy Classic scored the highest after 16 rounds of anonymous judging.
Cut + Grind is the first eatery in London to offer burgers freshly ground on-site, which means their patties are fresher, juicier and better tasting than those bought in from butchers.
Speaking about their big win, Paschalis Loucaides, founder of Cut + Grind said: “To win this national award within six months of opening is incredible.
“This is wonderful news for us and some positivity for once in what has been a little doom and gloom in the burger industry of late.
“This award is confirmation that the method we use at Cut + Grind, grinding different cuts of beef in full view of diners, is a winning one.”
In other burger news. Mcdonalds’ hamburger straws became the latest weird food fad to hit Instagram last year, Burger King created an ‘adults meal’ especially for Valentines day and KFC announced they were bringing their most popular burger to British shores.
