Three mega beauty brands have announced women of colour as faces of their latest beauty campaigns
Baby step by baby step, the fashion and beauty worlds are beginning to embrace diversity.
From Pirelli’s 2018 calendar featuring all-black artists to every single AW17 New York show featuring a non-white model.
And the latest moves of two major beauty brands are proper, adult steps, as they’ve each announced the faces of their latest beauty campaigns to be women of colour.

Zoë Kravitz will be YSL Beauty’s global make up ambassador, having joined the company last year as its US ambassador.
So she’ll be starring in various campaigns – to be revealed later on in the month.
Meanwhile for its Modern Muse fragrance, Estée Lauder has picked American ballet dancer Misty Copeland.

Copeland is already well acquainted with breaking barriers as the first African-American principal dancer in American Ballet Theatre, and African-American lead role in the Theatre’s production of Swan Lake back in 2014.
And finally, L’Oréal Paris has appointed Camila Cabello as its latest global spokesperson.

Cabello is an cuban-born American singer and songwriter (ever listened to ‘Crying in the Club’?) and a former member of Fifth Harmony, all at 20 years of age.
It’s all a step in the right direction – though of course, we’ll need more than just one if we want to see real change.
