A third of Brits admit to using a dating app while in a relationship

Thanks to Tinder, the perfect man or woman for you could be a mere swipe away.

Which is a thought that even those in monogamous relationships can’t shake off, it turns out, as a third of Brits have admitted to using a dating app while taken.

According to a survey of 2,100 UK adults by Slater and Gordon Lawyers, just under half of men (46%) admitted to being on a dating app while in a relationship with just one in five (21%) women revealing the same.

One in ten said their reason for this was being “bored” (10%) or their “sex life dwindling” (9%), while 7% said it was because they were “arguing a lot” with a partner.

And one in ten said they believed it doesn’t count as cheating unless you have physical contact, while a charming 35% said that using modern day dating apps and tools serves as an “insurance policy”.

Partners aren’t having any of it though, with 75% of people saying that online flirting or using a dating app or site would be enough for them to consider a divorce.

Over half (51%) said they’d dump their partner if they found them doing it, while 50% would expect new partners to quit dating apps the moment they became official.
