There's a huge debate over how to pronounce Primark

People have been mispronouncing fashion brands since the beginning of time.
Ask the average person how to say Givenchy, Loewe and Hermès and they’re guaranteed to struggle. (zjee-von-shee, loh-wev-eh and er-mez if you’re wondering.)
But who knew that there were two different ways of pronouncing Primark?
The mega high street chain has become the subject of a social media after people from certain areas of the country admitted to calling the store ‘Preemark’.

The debate has become quite heated with people calling the ‘Preemark’ pronounciation “unacceptable”.

Former employees have even weighed in, saying that it is in fact pronounced ‘Preemark’.

However, it turns out even they may be wrong as Primark itself has attempted to settle the debate once and for all.

In its online help section, the brand has included the question: “How do you pronounce Primark?” with the answer: “That’s a very good question. We like to use Pr-Eye-Mark.”
So there you have it. We weren’t wrong after all.
However, it’s not over there. People also can’t get their heads around the fact that Primark is called Penneys in Ireland.
