The top first dance music choices newlyweds are picking for 2017
The first dance – cringey for some, a magical moment for others.
But with a first dance comes that difficult, difficult choice – which song to play?
According to new research, if you’re going to any weddings this year, expect to hear a lot of Ed Sheeran – as one in seven couples has chosen one of his songs for their first dance.
That’s a lot of newlyweds dancing to ‘Castle on the Hill’ (probably).
2,518 Britons getting married this year were asked about their weddings by www.VoucherCodesPro.co.uk.
And one of the things they were asked was which artist they had chosen for their first dance song, which they could either pick from a list or state their own.
Despite a pretty modern top five, many of those quizzed were traditional at heart with 10% of them confessing that they were thinking of having a song that wasn’t released in the past five years.
The most popular of which was Whitney Houston (great choice, folks), but when it comes to the latest releases…
Ed Sheeran – 14%
Sheeran came up top by a landslide, which is hardly surprising if you take a look at Spotify’s current top 10.
2. John Legend – 9%
Following this was John Legend, and we have a sneaky suspicion ‘Love Me Now’ might be on the cards.
3. Adele – 9%
It’s not the first time Adele has beaten Beyoncé by a hair’s breadth this year after the Grammys.
4. Beyoncé – 7%
If anything, Lemonade has provided newlyweds with too much of a choice of heartfelt songs.
5. Michael Bublé
And finally, Bublé remain a firm romantic favourite now and, we assume, forever.
