Sliced ketchup is the latest condiment to add to your burgers

If you found the switch from glass to plastic ketchup bottles too much of a change, brace yourself.
Sliced ketchup could be added to our condiment collections soon as one firm is crowdsourcing funding to have it put into production.
Aptly named Slice of Sauce, its described as an “individual slice of flavor-packed condiment offering a portable, convenient, clean label experience”.
It also claims to be mess free, and a solution to those who don’t want soggy bread when they add the condiment to their meal.

It the firm moves forward with the concept, Slice of Sauce will be available in packs of eight portions to be layered onto burgers, sandwiches and what not.
It also doesn’t need to be kept in the fridge, and is apparently pretty healthy.
If you’re feeling as weird about it as we are, you might be surprised to discover that its already reached its Kickstarter target of £10,000.
Which means the cash will be used for the production of its initial run, which will be happening at a manufacturing facility in Brooklyn, New York.
How did its inventors think up Slice of Sauce? According to the crowdfunding page, it was all down to accident:

“We were working with some family recipes given to us by Emily’s father, a restaurateur from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan,” it reads.
“A recipe for BBQ sauce called for braising loads of vegetables and then discarding them.
“In order to use as much of the whole ingredients as possible, we mixed them, ground them, and dried them.
“Accidentally, the result was Slice of Sauce.”
However you feel about it, it looks like Slice of Sauce could be heading our way soon.
