Deliveroo is giving away hundreds of deep-fried Creme Eggs
If you think binging on Cadbury’s Creme Eggs this Easter is indulgent, you’ve seriously underestimated the chocolatey options that are out there in 2018.
Because Deliveroo has just raised the bar by giving away deep fried Creme Eggs with hundreds of its orders next week.
The food delivery company is offering free deep-fried Creme Eggs and Caramel Eggs with more than 200 orders from fried chicken restaurant Mother Clucker, from 4pm on Monday 26 March.
The eggs are prepared using the same spiced flour and buttermilk as Mother Clucker’s chicken strips, so no need to worry that your egg will be deep fried in sub-par ingredients.
Although if you can’t wait until then, you could try whipping up a deep-fried Creme Egg by yourself.
Deep-fried Creme Eggs recipe
Ingredients:
A few Creme Eggs, frozen for at least six hours
One (real) egg
240ml milk
120g flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
Enough vegetable oil to fill a few inches of a saucepan
A few cocktail sticks
Method:
Heat up the oil (it’s the right temperature when a bit of batter solidifies when dropped in).
Whisk the batter together and dip the eggs in, coating them completely.
Lower each egg into the oil using tongs or a slotted spoon, and fry them until golden brown. It’s best to cook just two at a time maximum.
Remove them with a slotted spoon, rest them on some kitchen towel, and don’t forget to let them cool before digging in.
If this deep-fried option still isn’t enough to satiate your Creme Eggs fix, try out one of these recipes too.
