Scarlett Moffatt targeted by body-shaming trolls following TV appearance
Scarlett Moffatt has hit back at body-shamers who left the TV personality in tears after her guest appearance on ‘Love Island: Aftersun’.
The 27-year-old, who found fame on Channel 4’s ‘Gogglebox’, took to Twitter after seeing vile tweets on the platform about her appearance on the ‘Love Island’ spin-off chat show.
Moffatt said that she was “ashamed” of the trolls and that some of the comments had left her “crying [her] eyes out”.
I’m honestly ashamed of some people on here. Hard to pretend I’m ok and be a good role model to others about how it’s ok to just you when the comments from grown adults on here have resulted in me crying my eyes out! I hope you’re very proud of yourselves

Many of the unnecessary comments took aim at Scarlett’s weight, while others mocked her supposed ‘wardrobe malfunction’ which saw her white bra on display.
Scarlett said that these kind of body-shaming comments are aiding “social anxiety,” something which she already suffers with.
No wonder the amount of people including myself with social anxiety is increasing. Feel like I can’t even film tv shows without hating the way that I look after – from constantly being attacked because of my size and my appearance!

Feel like I need to speak out for others!! This is not fair this needs to stop!! Please to the people out there who aren’t loving themselves right now please don’t let other people stop you from doing what you love. Real beauty shines from within ❤

Scarlett finished by saying: “I’m a 27 year old girl with feelings & a family who get upset also when they see vile comments about my appearance.” [Sic]
I wanted and felt like I had to write that tweet to let you know at the end of the day I’m a 27 year old girl with feelings & a family who get upset also when they see vile comments about my appearance. Something needs to change with our society!!

“Something needs to change with our society!” Scarlett finished.
Naturally, many were quick to jump to the TV star’s defence.
One supported said she is “beautiful inside and out”, while another said they wanted to give the TV star “a hug,” and many others advised her to ignore and block the trolls.
Other Twitter users pointed out the hypocrisy that many of the people body-shaming Scarlett were the same that were upset with the lack of body diversity ‘Love Island’ has been accused of.
Former ‘Love Island’ star Olivia Buckland reached out to Scarlett saying that she, too, had “broken down” because of comments by trolls recently.
“From one strong lady to another; we’re better than that,” Buckland wrote.
“Can’t even give any advice cus I know whatever is said doesn’t change the way it’s upset you. All I know is that you are better than words.” [Sic]
Scarlett, we think you look beautiful.
Now, can everyone just be a bit nicer to one another?
