Sam Smith wears heels on the red carpet at star-studded Judy premiere
Sam Smith wore heels to the star-studded premiere of ‘Judy’ in Beverly Hills last night and led the best dressed list in the process.
The 27-year-old, who prefers to be referred to as “they” rather than “he”, graced the red carpet in a forest green co-ord with an unbuttoned silk shirt, a lick of lip gloss and their trademark earring to finish.
But it was a pair of angular Shaun Ross x United Nude Limited Edition Collaboration Boots which really earned the singer extra sartorial points.
Keen to show them off, Smith took to Instagram to share a clip of themselves strutting away in the killer look.
Though it’s not the first time they have worn heels to an A-list photo call.
Earlier this month, Smith attended the 2019 GQ Awards in a pair of incredible patent Gucci boots - the perfect way to accessorise their all-black ensemble.
It was a huge moment for the singer, as they did not think they’d ever have the courage to push society’s age-old gender stereotypes “in front of the industry or anyone”.

Sharing a photograph of the “virgin heels” via Instagram, Smith penned a moving caption which read: “Tonight I wore heels for the first time to an award show. I’ve just got home from a gorgeous evening and as I was walking to my front door I stopped and listened to my heels clonking against the floor.”
“And I just thought ‘F*** YES’!! There was a time where I thought I’d never, ever, ever be able to be myself like this in front of the industry or anyone. It feels so good and I just wanted to share that with you all, and share a picture of my GORJ Gucci heels. They’ll always be my virgin heels.”
Smith came out as non-binary on September 13 and was met with a wave of support from fans across the globe.
Taking to Instagram to announce that they would like to change their pronouns to ‘they’ and ‘them’, the singer wrote: “After a lifetime of being at war with my gender I’ve decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out.”
“I’m so excited and privileged to be surrounded by people that support me in this decision but I’ve been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but f*** it!”
Though Smith isn’t the only celebrity to change society’s perceptions on gender ‘norms’ when it comes to fashion.
Billy Porter was crowned the best dressed London Fashion Week attendee after diverting the front row’s eyes away from the runway in a series of killer looks.
We’re talking platforms, feather headgear and a Richard Quinn ensemble that we can’t stop talking about.
While Jonathan Van Ness, who identifies as non-binary, regularly attends celebrity events in heels.

Keen to educate others, the ‘Queer Eye’ star recently called out a publication for describing the hair guru as a “man in a non binary outfit”.
Referring to his incredible VMAs look, the 32-year-old tweeted: “For me, it’s actually a non binary person in a non binary outfit.”
