Sainsbury's launches £10 cheese advent calendar for those bored of chocolate
There’s no greater way to celebrate the run-up to Christmas than with an advent calendar, as we mark each day with a bite of chocolate or by finally opening that eye-wateringly expensive beauty cracker.
But for those of you with a savoury tooth, Sainsbury’s has just changed the festive game by announcing the launch of its first cheese advent calendar.
The 24-box delight includes a grand total of seven varieties of the good stuff with Edam, Red Leicester, Wensleydale and Applewood making the cut.
The Ilchester cheese calendar will be up for grabs on November 14 while Asda will also be stocking up from Nov 15 – it’ll even cost customers a reduced £8.
For those of you with a sophisticated palette, there’s even a limited edition Wensleydale with gingerbread hiding behind one of its doors.
Each cheese is individually wrapped like a Christmas present and to save fridge space, the calendar can be torn in half 12 days in.
The new festive staple is the brainwave of Annem Hobson – the blogger behind So Wrong It’s Nom – who introduced the world to the first ever cheese calendar last year. And for that, we can only thank her.
But the supermarket chain’s festive venture is just one of many mouthwatering announcements to have graced the headlines in recent weeks.
It may only be October but Aldi has already introduced us to foot-long pigs in blankets alongside ‘hangover free’ prosecco – just in time for party season.
The question remains, is it too early to put up the Christmas tree?
