Rihanna's NYFW show celebrates diversity with pregnant and plus-size models
Of course Rihanna knows how to put on a show. But last night’s Savage x Fenty show at the close of New York Fashion Week was something else altogether.
You could say that in true Ri Ri style she really brought it.
The inclusive show, which was live streamed on YouTube, featured a diverse collection of models and dancers of all races, body sizes and in the mix were two pregnant models rocking the runway with their baby bumps.
In a powerful celebration of the female body, Slick Woods, the 22-year-old Fenty muse, who officially announced her pregnancy in July, hit the catwalk wearing nowt but some glittering black nipple pasties and a barely-there bodysuit.
Oh and some thigh high embroidered stockings.
In further proof that pregnant women don’t lose their sexy, Slick was joined by a second expecting model, a dancer, who donned a plunging nude, lace bodysuit that showed off her baby bump.
When Rihanna launched her Savage x Fenty brand earlier this year she assured her fans that the underwear could be rocked by ALL women, no matter their body type.
And that was certainly represented in last night’s catwalk, which was the ultimate celebration of diversity and also featured models du jour Bella and Gigi Hadid, with Bella working a baby blue bra and garter combo with a matching fur coat and feather adorned headpiece and sister Gigi in a mushroom coloured cut-away two piece with flower embellishment.
Of course, the show wouldn’t have been complete without an appearance from Bad Gal Ri Ri herself.
Hitting the runway to take a bow for the show’s finale, the ‘Work’ singer worked underwear-revealing ruched brown dress and matching headscarf which she she dramatically untied to reveal her face. Of course she did!

While she strutted down the catwalk, Elvis Presley’s ‘Love Me Tender’ boomed and in a celebration of the sisterhood all the models held hands.
All in all, there’s little doubt Rihanna, the models and of course, Savage Fenty x won NYFW.
