Renée Zellweger pays homage to Judy Garland with glorious rainbow umbrella

Proving she’s not quite ready to step out of her ruby red slippers just yet, Renée Zellweger paid sartorial tribute to late Hollywood great, Judy Garland, at the European premiere of the newly-released biopic in London.

Last night, the silver screen actress cheered up the drizzly capital in a powder pink off-the-shoulder dress by Emilia Wickstead which boasted a romantic cape and structured sleeves.

But it was her colour-splattered umbrella which really stole the spotlight, as Zellweger braved the great British rain beneath her very own rainbow - a sweet nod to one of Garland’s most famous songs, ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’.

For a further touch of Hollywood magic, the 50-year-old posed for a photo call at the Curzon Mayfair with a super-shiny ruby ring perched upon her finger - no other accessories needed.

The red carpet bash comes just weeks after the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Judy’ took place where the actress was joined by singer Sam Smith who collaborated with her on a remake of 1950 hit ‘Get Happy’ for the film.

Demonstrating her fashion know-how, Zellweger chose a £6,192 Oscar de la Renta mini dress for the big moment which featured a heavy floral print and draped jacquard train.

The highly-anticipated film, which is in cinemas now, lands the actress in the winter of 1968 - 30 years after Garland was propelled to fame for her lead role as Dorothy in ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

But the movie delves deep into the star’s troubled past, exploring what really went on behind 'the rainbow' from her turbulent relationships to financial difficulties.
