Princess Beatrice follows in Diana's Met Gala footsteps: A brief history of royals on the red carpet
Much to the surprise of self-confessed royal fans across the globe, Princess Beatrice joined the star-studded guest list at the 2018 Met Gala last night.
In an appropriately regal dress, the Queen’s granddaughter graced the now-famous steps (with a glitzy headpiece for a tiara upon her head).
But it’s not the first time a member of the British royal family has attended fashion’s most exclusive event.
Back in 1996, Princess Diana wore a cobalt blue dress by John Galliano for the Christian Dior-themed ceremony and undoubtedly stole the sartorial crown in the process.
Fast forward a decade or two and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge already have a series of red carpet events under their belt including their debut appearance at the 2017 BAFTA ceremony.
But who else has left Buckingham Palace for a night on the town?
From Queen Elizabeth II’s debut film screening to that time sisters Beatrice and Eugenie asked Leonardo DiCaprio for a picture (yup), take a look back at the royal family’s history on the red carpet.
