Prince William returns to hobby he gave up that Kate Middleton says ‘fills me with horror’
The Prince of Wales briefly revisited a beloved hobby of his while on a trip to Northern Ireland. Over the years, Prince William has opened up about his passion for motorbikes and while on his most recent engagement he was able to indulge his adoration during a visit to Ulster University’s Belfast City Campus on Thursday, 14 November.
As part of the engagement, Prince William, 42, headed to the university’s state-of-the-art Virtual Production Studio. The studio boasts an “in-camera visual effects stage” and means that different scenes can be screened behind individuals, giving the illusion that they’re in another location to reality.
In the spirit of the engagement, the royal eagerly tested out the special effects by hopping on a stationary motorbike, with the screen behind him making it look as though Prince William was riding through the Arizona desert.

“Any excuse to get on a motorbike! I feel like someone needs to take this for a real spin,” the future monarch said when asked if he’d like to take a turn sitting on the bike.
In the past, the Prince of Wales was known to ride motorbikes and in 2015, Kate Middleton opened up about her husband’s hobby. As she discussed his love of motorbiking while on a royal visit to Dundee, Scotland, the Princess of Wales admitted that it caused her concern.
When asked if he still rode, she said: “He's still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it. I'm terrified. Hopefully, I'm going to keep George off it.” At the time Prince George was just two years old while Princess Charlotte was only a few months.
However, three years later it appeared that Prince William had taken a step back from his passion. On a visit to the Isle of Man in 2018, he was asked about motorbiking and responded: “I’m a dad of three. I have to tone it down.” He added: “I miss the big trips. For me, biking was always about being with everybody else.”
The Prince of Wales’ outing comes after he was crowned the world's sexiest bald man for the second year running, according to a new study that ranked him above Hollywood legend Dwayne Johnson. According to the research, William scored an “almost-perfect” 9.9 out of 10, while Dwayne, who is known as 'The Rock', trailed behind with 8.9 out of 10.
