'Prince Harry and Meghan Markle' spotted Christmas shopping, confuse local residents
Christmas shoppers in Wimbledon were left reeling after ‘Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘ were spotted picking up some festive treats.
The Wimbledon branch of Wilko welcomed professional lookalikes of the royal couple last week.
The doppelgangers, who were dressed in Harry and Meghan’s trademark casual looks, were spotted filling their basket with presents for Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
They chose a castle building set for George and a wand and tiara for Charlotte. Prince William was rewarded with a ‘brother’ mug while the pair picked up a beauty set and pregnancy vitamins for the Duchess of Cambridge.
The Queen wasn’t left out with ‘Harry and Meghan’ choosing a luxury bath and body set and glass tumblers for Her Majesty.
Shoppers couldn’t help but laugh when they saw the newly engaged duo snap up a roasting tray to help them recreate their ‘proposal chicken’ in their Kensington Palace home over the festive period.
“There were more than a few shocked faces and plenty of double-takes as ‘Harry and Meghan’ paid their unexpected visit to our new Wimbledon store,” said Wilko Wimbledon’s store manager Peter Butterworth.
“The truth is, of course, that it wasn’t actually the royal couple, but one of the UK’s most popular Harry and Meghan lookalikes. The effect their visit had was no less dramatic though.”
The real Harry and Meghan are set to spend their Christmas at Sandringham with the rest of the Royal Family. The three-day celebrations will involve the usual church service and walks with the Queen’s many dogs.
