Primark is making a major change to its sizing
Primark is making a major change to its sizing in a bid to be more inclusive.
The high-street favourite is planing to ditch traditional dress sizes in favour of a small, medium and large-style measurement system.
By rolling out the new sizes which will run from a 2XS (a UK size 4) to a 2XL (a UK size 24), the fashion chain hopes to cater for a more inclusive range of body shapes and sizes.
Primark has already started rolling out the new system, with a spokesperson confirming the changes to Pretty 52.
“We have updated our sizing for a more comfortable fit – we will be grouping sizes into S/M/L etc, rather than 8/10/12 etc.”
“The new sizing is trickling into stores now and will be used for a small amount of lingerie plus a large selection of womenswear,” they added.

Shoppers can expect the change to happen on: “Jumpers, cardigans, jersey tops, sports tops, casual bottoms, workout apparel, shorts (not denim shorts), light jackets and some swimwear,” the spokesperson added.
Primark follows other high-street stores like Zara and Urban Outfitters in introducing a system that is more recognisable internationally.

The topic of retail sizing has been causing quite the stir of late.
ASOS has been leading the way by unveiling plans to make their website more inclusive by having models of different sizes photographed in the same dress.
While last month the online retailer flew the flag for fashion diversity by happily showcasing various different body types in their promotional images, back rolls and all.
And after years of customer complaints, H&M has finally pledged to make its UK sizes bigger.
Last year, customer Samantha Bell called out the store for its inconsistent sizing by comparing size 16 H&M jeans with a pair of size 16 Primark jeans on Twitter.
Then there was Lowri Byrne, a size 12 woman who called out H&M for its “ridiculous” sizing policy after trying on a size 16 dress that left her feeling like she could “barely breathe.”
A spokesperson for H&M announced: “Following customer feedback, we are taking the steps to change our womenswear measurements to be in line with UK sizing, for example the previous measurements and fit of a size 12 will now be the measurements of a size 10.”
“Customers will experience a transition period and are encouraged to use our sizing guides online or ask our store staff for advice when shopping. We believe this transition will improve our overall customer experience and we hope our customers will feel encouraged we have listened to their valuable feedback.”
The Scandi store will slowly begin to roll out its new sizes in the near future.
