Pink has something to say about people who shame mums breastfeeding in public

Has Pink been reading Yahoo Style UK? We only ask because just last week we penned a piece on why it’s time to stop shaming mums about breastfeeding in public and now she’s thrown her own weight behind the cause.

Appearing on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Wednesday, the ‘What About Us’ singer hit back at those who shame mums for nursing their babies in public.

The host was expressing her confusion about people who were offended by women who breastfeed in public.

“It’s such a weird thing that people have such strong opinions about breastfeeding. It’s a child, and it needs to eat,” DeGeneres said.

To which Pink replied: “Strong opinions about things that don’t affect their life at all. I’m feeding my kid. Would you rather him scream? Because he’s very capable of that, too.”

The host also gave her guest a special Ellen-branded breast pump system.

Pink has two children, 6-year-old Willow and 8-month-old Jameson with her husband Carey Hart and often speaks out about motherhood and her breastfeeding journey in a bid to help normalise the feeding method.

She has even posted several photos of herself opening breastfeeding her little ones and pumping breast milk to Instagram.

It isn’t the first time that the popstar has spoken about breastfeeding on a talkshow either. Back in 2012, she appeared on ‘Alan Carr Chatty Man’ while still breastfeeding her daughter Willow.

Opening up about the fact that people are sometimes offended by her breastfeeding in public, she was asked by the host:

“Are you one of those militant breastfeeder women, like in the middle of Starbucks, you get it out and are like ‘yeah what you looking at?’”

“I do, I do on purpose,” Pink responded. “I think breastfeeding is healthy and natural, and it’s a comfort to my baby, so I can give a sh*t what somebody else thinks.”

“The first time we went out to a restaurant, there was a guy who walked by, I had a cover on… and this guy walks by and was like ‘Uughhh.’ He was just disgusted. I was like ‘You didn’t get enough hugs when you were little’.”

And last year ,the Grammy award-winning singer shared a sweet throwback of herself nursing her daughter Willow, in honour of World Breastfeeding Week.
