'Narrowest house in London' could be yours for just under £1m
It may be one of the UK’s skinniest houses, but this super narrow home in London still comes with a pretty vast price tag, at a little shy of £1million.
The unusual property on Goldhawk Road in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, may be just 5ft 5in wide, but what it lacks in width, it certainly makes up for in height, with five floors and swish interiors.
The house, which was once a hat shop, is believed to be “the narrowest in London”, but it packs a lot into its small floor-plan.
Offering two bedrooms, an Insta-impressive kitchen, dining room and bathroom, as well as a roof terrace with views over West London and a leafy garden to the rear, the unique house was once owned by fashion photographer Juergen Teller but was sold to its current owner in 2009.
With an Aga in the kitchen, period parquet flooring throughout, and Crittall-style doors onto the garden, the former hat shop definitely ticks the style box.
Other quirky features include a spiral staircase to the first floor, a deco bath tub and a dressing room on the second floor.

Though the building measures just 5ft 5in at its narrowest, the dining room is a much roomier 9ft 11in wide, while the master bedroom is a positively spacious, 20ft by 6ft.
The house, which is situated between a private clinic and a hairdresser in Shepherd's Bush, is on the market for £995,000, which is double what it last sold for 11 years ago.

According to Simon Waller, manager of Winkworth, who is handling the sale, the interior design has the bespoke approach of a luxury yacht, making the most of small spaces, with superb attention to interior design detail.
“It’s quirky and charming and great for entertaining and will appeal to someone who feels there is more to life than two up, two down,” he says.
“It started life as a hat shop, was converted by a fashion photographer and it seems fitting that it is launching as London Fashion Week gets under way – the ultimate designer house.”

He told the Telegraph that the house was “terribly bohemian”.
“You could get lost in the different worlds over the five floors,” he said.
“Each owner has sprinkled their own fairy dust on it.
“The current owner likens it to a classic car - she’s tinkering with it constantly”.
